About Kazan

Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, is one of the largest economic, scientific, cultural centres and ancient cities of Russia. In 2005 the city celebrated its millenium.

The area of Kazan is 425,3 km². There are more than 1.1 m residents in Kazan.

Kazan has a favorable geographical location. It is a large railway, highway, water, air and pipeline junction. There is the international airport and the river port located here and the first metro line is already completed.

Kazan Kremlin is listed in the UNESCO Register of the World Heritage.

International festivals of Opera Art by F. Shalyapin and classical ballet by R. Nuriev are held annually in the city.
